Here we will discuss a few different weather stations. Basically you have three options in the market today. One is a handheld device that has the ability to monitor windspeed. Next is the wireless weather station. Although this may look pretty wild on the top of your storm chase vehicle, these weather stations may be more inviting simply because of the lack of wires. With these weather stations not having wires, it is easier to install, although cost is higher. The final weather station is the wired weather station. The instruments have wires that need to be routed to the main unit. Basically these have the same functionality of the wireless weather station, but cost is lower. With both the wired and wireless weather station, depending on the model you purchase, many have a computer interface. Here is where your laptop comes into play. If you are wanting real time weather statistics, they may be viewed and logged on your computer. More elaborate weather stations come with a display, but the computer display is much more pretty!! ;) |
