CB Radio

Citizen Band radio, AKA CBs, should be used as a secondard means of communication. I have found it difficult to sustain a reliable conversation on any CBs that are currently on the market. The FCC regulates the output of all CBs to 4 watts, which may give you a 10 mile range. The range depends a lot on your antenna and altitude in relationship with others.

A CB is fun to play around on, and that is about it in my opinion. With an amatuer radio, you are communicating with a related audience. There is no telling what you may here on a CB radio.

In summary: If you have extra room and you feel you need all the gadgets, get one, otherwise don't waste your time or money!!
